Roland SH-201 + MC-808

Viernes 6 Febrero
DIM MAK PRESENTS: STEVE AOKI (Hollywood, California
Estados Unidos) + THE BLOODY BEETROOTS (Boredom, Italia)
+ DJ MANAIA (Club Mercado, Lisboa)
Pop Room: HOMEBOY (Low Club) + ICO (Low Club)

Steve Aoki, aka Kid Millionaire, is a celebrity DJ and also the founder of Dim Mak Records, which counts leading indie rock bands such as Gossip, Bloc Party, and Battles among its stable of signees. The son of wealthy restauranteur Rocky Aoki, he is of Japanese heritage and calls Los Angeles home. In 2007 he released his first official mix CD, Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles, on Thrive Records. Featuring tracks by Justice, Klaxons, Mystery Jets, Peaches, Datarock, Yelle, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, and Scanners -- most of them remixed -- Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles is fairly representative of the Aoki's renown as a tastemaking dance-party DJ rather than a skillful turntablist. Since he is often seen as being famous for being famous, Aoki tends to be the subject of scorn in some circles. Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide.

One of the most talked about projects from the European blogs, the Bloody Beetroots style involves interpretations of Rock & Roll on the electro side. The Bloody Beetroots bring a DJ /Live set pushin’ the nu-rave onto punk with old-school samples. Industry magazines compare them to Justice, while the duo loves to define its own noise monger to pump up the volume. Managed in the UK by Typical Stereo Bookings (Steve Aoki, Weird Science, DJ Paparazzi), they have tons of international hype, just google them to see for yourself.

I am a dj and promotor from Lisbon since 1999, but I started mixing earlyear with the age of 14 at home with my uncle's turntables. A few years later I played in several bars and clubs at the legendary Bairro Alto in Lisbon, but it was in the area of Santos in Lisbon, in the club Fluid where I started to show my skills, known for being an irreverent dj but at the some time worried about intruducing new sounds and grooves to my audience. In 2005 I started my most evident project with my mate José Canas, the venue CLUBE MERCADO, a venue in Lisbon that received great national and international shows! In Clube Mercado I was the resident dj and promotor of several events that was a mark in Lisbon’s night life. My style is difficult to describe because I play everything that bounces the dancefloor... it can be hip-hop, brokenbeat, house, electro or rock... anyway, free style where the sounds of ghettos from all over the world are evident.
